Our Philosophy

The principles that guide everything we do

Trust Comes First

"Before any learning can happen, a young person needs to feel safe, respected, and believed in."

That's why every mentoring relationship starts with trust. Our mentors don't walk in with a checklist — they take the time to build a genuine connection with each young person. We meet young people where they are, not where others expect them to be.

Every Young Person Is Different

"There is no one-size-fits-all approach at Impact."

Every young person we work with has their own story, their own challenges, and their own strengths. Our mentors tailor their approach to the individual — whether that means working on a practical project, building confidence through conversation, or helping a young person achieve a recognised ASDAN qualification.

We meet young people where they are, not where others expect them to be.

Strengths, Not Deficits

"We don't define young people by what they can't do or what they've been told they are."

We see potential. We focus on what each young person is good at, what they care about, and what they want to achieve. Our role is to help them see that potential in themselves.

Relationships That Last

"The mentoring relationship doesn't end when a term ends."

Many of the young people we've worked with keep in touch with their mentors for years. That's because the trust we build is real, not transactional. We're not a service that walks away — we're a constant in young people's lives.

Working in Partnership

"We don't work in isolation."

We partner with schools, local authorities, families, and communities to make sure young people get joined-up support. We believe the best outcomes happen when everyone involved in a young person's life is working toward the same goal.
