"During C's involvement with the Youth Support Team, James has played a significant role in supporting their progress and engagement. From the offset, James encouraged C to engage with their allocated worker and opportunities available to them, helping them build the confidence to participate fully in interventions and support services. James has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure C received the support they needed. He has provided reliable and consistent encouragement, whilst appropriately challenging C to step outside of their comfort zone and make positive changes in their life. This has included supporting C to reflect on their behaviour, develop their aspirations and engaging in education. I feel a particular strength of James' work has been his commitment to recognising and celebrating C's achievements. He maintained a details record of the work and progress C made throughout their mentoring relationship, which C was proud to share with me. James also presented C with a certification upon completion of their mentoring programme, an achievement that C spoke positively about and took great pride in. Throughout their time working together, James acted as a strong advocate for C and clearly demonstrated a genuine belief in their potential. He consistently promoted C's strengths, encouraged them to persevere through challenges and supported their personal development. It was evidence that James and C developed a strong and trusting relationship, which enabled C to engage positively and make progress across multiple areas of their life. In summary, James' commitment, consistency and ability to build meaningful relationships with young people is exceptional.
